Last Year's Results

Can you play chess? Then come to the Chess Festival!

The Warlingham Chess Festival is open to local chess players of all ages and abilities. Entrants will be split into sections by age, with novice sections for those who have never won a trophy in a chess tournament. Also there will be chess computers to play against and chess problems to try to solve.

Everyone will play 5 games during the afternoon (this is not an all day competition) and nobody is knocked out. Each time you will play somebody with a similar score to your own, and so most games should be between players of matched ability.

There will be trophies for the players with the highest scores in each group and for runners up. There will be badges and certificates for all players.

Refreshments will be available so players might like to bring some money to buy crisps, biscuits, fruit, sweets and drinks. Parents do not need to stay during the tournament but we cannot accept responsibility for looking after any child. Younger players are likely to prefer the presence of a known adult throughout the afternoon. There will be rooms available for accompanying adults who are staying. Only players and stewards will be allowed in the playing area.
