East Surrey Junior Chess 2005 – 2006

Saturday 10 December Warlingham Chess Festival – all ages

STATEMENT BY THE SURREY COUNTY CHESS ASSOCIATION JUNIOR SUBCOMMITTTEE

Surrey County Chess Association ("SCCA") has become aware that schools and parents have recently been circularised by an organisation called Surrey Junior Chess ("SJC"). SJC is a part of Creating Community Facilities, as is Coulsdon Chess Fellowship ("CCF").

SJC is managed by the same individuals as CCF. SJC has no connection with the SCCA and has not been authorised or supported by the SCCA in any way whatsoever.

The SCCA (Established 1883) is a member of the British Chess Federation, the Southern Counties Chess Union and the National Youth Chess Association, and enters and organises teams representing Surrey in competitions run by all three organisations.

We naturally hope that talented juniors throughout Surrey (including the relevant London Boroughs) will make themselves available for selection for our teams. We would not seek to prevent anyone from playing for an SJC team if that is truly his or her wish. However, we are anxious to ensure that no-one does so in the mistaken belief that he or she has been asked to represent an official Surrey County Chess Association junior team.

If you have any queries, or would like further information, please contact Paul Durrant Tel: 020 8255 1369 Email: Sculptorpaul7@yahoo.co.uk
