       June 25th, 2000. Wey
Valley Summer Tournament at Whyteleafe School.
It was very good to have a Wey Valley tournament being
held where our club normally meets. The tough opposition did, however,
emphasise the strength Surrey Junior Chess. In many cases these players
not only work hard at improving their chess, but also have training at
school. In particular the importance of recording games, and then looking
at them afterwards to learn from experience, was emphasised.
Castles Junior Chess Club was well represented, with
a total of 8 members playing. Each had their ups and downs, with half
scoring more than 50%. The scores were:
      U10 Championship: Peter Humphrey
        3/5 (8th=/32); Kyle Sheehan 2; Kasra Hormati 1.5
U10 Minor: Keya Hormati and Harry
        Leathers 3/5 (both 9th=/33), Simon Fowler 2
        U8 Section: Jonathan Lui 3/5 (10th=/45),
        Joshua Cooper1.5.
